Students preparing for RN jobs Phoenix (Click here) have a great local education option that was recently recognized on a prestigious ranking list.
U.S. News & World Report recently named the ASU College of Nursing & Health Innovation 21st on its list of the best graduate nursing programs for 2012. That ranking - which is the highest in the college's history - places ASU among the top 4 percent of graduate nursing programs.
A total of 467 graduate nursing programs were named to the list, which carries extra weight, because it was determined by a peer survey. In the last report, which was released in 2008, ASU ranked 32nd out of 396 programs.
Part of the reason that ASU moved up on the list is that the college has added a Doctor of Nursing Practice program, transformed its PhD program to an interdisciplinary format, and established the only existing nursing academic partnership with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
"We have had banner years with being the No. 1 NIH-funded college of nursing without a medical school and have been in the top 15 overall in NIH funding for the past two years in addition to launching several innovative academic, research and clinical practice programs," Dean Bernadette Melnyk said in a statement. "It takes a great team to achieve these accomplishments, and we truly have one here. I appreciate the efforts of all current and previous faculty and staff, which made this ranking possible."
