Forbes.com recently placed four Texas cities on its list of the top "Cities Where the Recession is easing." The list was based on job growth and real estate industry improvement, among other indicators.
The Austin-Round Rock area received the best ranking, tying for first with the Washington, D.C. area. Austin received an unemployment rank of three, home price rank of 13 and metropolitan GDP rank of three.
The best news may have come for those who have been looking for a City of Austin job, as the area received a rank of two for its three-year job growth forecast and a rank of one for its job growth between 2007 and 2009.
The Dallas area was ranked third, receiving an unemployment rank of nine, a home price rank of 25 and a metropolitan GDP rank of one. And good news for those seeking a Dallas job - the area received a rank of three for its three-year job growth forecast and a rank of five for its job growth between 2007 and 2009.
A plus for Houston job seekers - the Houston area was tied for fourth with Minneapolis. The city received an unemployment rank of 12, a home price rank of 32 and a metropolitan GDP rank of eight. Dallas garnered a rank of four for its three-year job growth forecast and a rank of six for its job growth between 2007 and 2009.
Forbes ranked San Antonio seventh, as the city received an unemployment rank of two, a home price rank of 27 and a metropolitan GDP of 35. Fortunately for those seeking San Antonio jobs, the city nabbed a rank of one for its three-year job growth forecast and a rank of two for its job growth between 2007 and 2009.
