If you're looking for Fort Lauderdale nursing jobs, one hospital in the area seems to stand out above the rest.
Holy Cross Hospital was the only facility in Fort Lauderdale to be named to U.S. News & World Report's 2010 list of best hospitals. The 436-bed facility is a full-service, nonprofit Catholic hospital sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy and a member of Catholic Health East.
Holy Cross opened in 1955 and prides itself on medical excellence and highly personalized care with sincere human compassion and understanding. Although the facility is somewhat spiritual, offering its patients a minister, is also maintains state-of-the-art technology, a highly-acclaimed medical staff and a variety of innovative services.
The hospital was previously named among the best hospitals for orthopedics during 2008 and 2009, a HealthGrades Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence from 2003 to 2008, and one of America's 50 Best Hospitals during 2007 and 2008.
According to U.S. News, Holy Cross is home to 104 full-time and four part-time physicians and dentists, 573 full-time and 50 part-time registered nurses, and 38 full-time and two part-time licensed practical nurses.
The hospital has about 17,671 admissions; 5,805 inpatient surgeries; 156,483 outpatient visits; 3,961 outpatient surgeries; 43,580 emergency room visits; and 1,144 births.

The Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach-Deerfield Beach area's education and health services industry employed 94,200 workers during January, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is down from 94,700 workers during December 2009 and a 1.8 percent decrease from last year.
